Program
Screening, therapeutic feeding, IYCF counselling, and clinic-based nutrition care for mothers and children.
Health and nutrition is NASDO’s largest area of work. Our teams operate from Maternal and Child Health centres in Mogadishu and Jowhar, and through outreach in villages and IDP settlements.
We screen children for wasting, provide outpatient therapeutic care, distribute nutrition supplies, and teach caregivers how to feed infants and young children safely — including during floods and displacement.
In June 2024 NASDO volunteers supported mass MUAC screening in Jowhar IDP camps after Gu rains displaced nearly 6,900 people. Working with IMC, Aid Vision, World Vision, SAACID, ARD, Mercy USA, and WARDI, teams reached more than 3,854 children and identified 658 with moderate or severe wasting.
