Program
Doorstep care, medicines, hygiene kits, and screening when floods, rains, or displacement cut families off from clinics.
When Gu rains and floods close roads, NASDO takes care to the household. In Moyko Village, Jowhar, clinicians have carried medicines and services to the doorstep of families who cannot reach a clinic. The same pattern held across the rainy season in Jowhar District.
After flooding in Gubadley District, Mogadishu, teams distributed hygiene kits and ran health awareness so households could cut disease risk while water receded. In Jowhar IDP camps in June 2024, volunteers helped screen 3,854 children after floods displaced about 6,900 people.
Emergency work is tied to climate planning: NASDO sits in National Climate Outlook Forums and WASH cluster meetings on flood anticipatory action, El Niño readiness, and cholera risk.
