NASDO volunteers in Jowhar’s mass MUAC screening
NASDO volunteers played a central role in mass MUAC screening in Jowhar IDP camps from 4 to 12 June 2024. The aim was better nutrition coverage and earlier detection of malnutrition among children and mothers.
From April to May 2024, Gu rains in Jowhar affected about 7,000 people and displaced 6,900, weakening access to healthcare and nutrition and raising cholera risk.
Teams trained screeners and supervisors, then worked with IMC, Aid Vision, World Vision, SAACID, ARD, Mercy USA, and WARDI. Together they reached more than 3,854 children and identified 658 with moderate or severe wasting, while raising community awareness of where to find support.
