The event was officially opened by H.E. Dr. Maryama Maxamed Xuseen, the State Minister of Health and Social Care, and closed by H.E. Dr. Ali Haji Adam, the Minister of Health and Social Care of the Federal Government of Somalia. The high-level conference focused on strengthening the health system in Somalia for the prevention and control of non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
The conference was attended by senior officials from the World Health Organization (WHO) regional and Eastern Mediterranean Regional Office (EMRO), various stakeholders working on reducing NCDs, international organizations, representatives from federal ministries, educational institutions, and private health sector organizations. The two-day event is expected to yield significant outcomes, including:
– Enhancing the inclusive approach to addressing NCDs.
– Developing strategies for the prevention and control of NCDs.
– Assessing the current response level to NCDs in Somalia.
– Ensuring full participation from public and private health sectors.
The Ministry of Health and Social Care of the Federal Government of Somalia is committed to addressing the country’s health needs and advancing national health development goals.
